Add multiple zones to one screen

Split a screen into independent regions — for example, a main content area plus a ticker strip — so each zone runs its own playlist.

In the Designer, open the layout you want to split.
Click Add zone, then draw the region on the canvas.
Assign each zone a name (e.g. main, ticker).
Go to Playlists, and assign a playlist to each named zone.
Publish. Each zone updates independently — you don’t need to touch the whole layout to change the ticker content.

Warning: Zones can’t overlap. If you need overlapping content (e.g. a logo watermark over a video zone), use a transparent-background image layer instead of a second zone.

This tutorial walks through setting up a SignaCast account, creating a design, and pushing it to a Roku player — start to finish.

What you’ll need

A SignaCast account (sign up at signup.signacast.co)
A Roku device on the same network as your SignaCast dashboard
10 minutes

Step 1 — Create your first design

Log in to app.signacast.co.
Go to Media → Create design.
Choose a template or start blank, then add your logo and a text block.
Click Save.

Step 2 — Build a playlist

Go to Playlists → New playlist.
Drag your design into the playlist.
Set the duration (default is 10 seconds per slide).

Step 3 — Assign the playlist to a screen

Go to Screens, and select (or pair) your Roku player.
Under Schedule, assign the playlist you just built.
Click Publish.

Within about 30 seconds, the new content appears on the connected display.

You published a change, but the display still shows the old playlist.

1. Check the player is online

Go to Screens in the dashboard. A gray dot next to the screen name means it hasn’t checked in recently.

Gray for under 5 minutes: normal — players poll on an interval, wait it out.
Gray for over 10 minutes: the player has lost its connection. Check the Roku’s network settings, or power-cycle the device.

2. Confirm the playlist is actually assigned

It’s easy to publish a design without assigning it to the screen’s active playlist. Open the screen’s Schedule tab and confirm the playlist you edited is the one currently live (not a draft or a different time slot).
